DESTINATION GUIDE

Moscow Vnukovo Airport

Vnukovo Airport is Moscow’s oldest operating airport. It opened, originally for military purposes, in the 1930s. After the Second World War it was converted for civilian use and is now one of three major airports serving Moscow along with Domodedovo International Airport, and Sheremetyevo International. Due to the airports height, it is often used as an alternative airport during serve fog. The airport has two termianls, the much larger Terminal A is used for both domestic and international flights, while the smaller Terminal D is used for domestic arrivals from North Caucasus only. The airport is capable of handling most common airlines, with the exception of the Airbus A380.

The centre of Moscow, which is approximately 28 km away, can be reach using the Aeroexpress train service or by shuttle bus. Road connections are also very good, and taxis can be found in taxi ranks at the airport. Vnukovo is 38 km from Otkrytiye Arena and 25 km from Luzhniki Stadium. It is important to note that slots at this airport are controlled, however English is spoken by staff and ground crew at the airport.
