Anyone who thinks the UK’s cuisine is bland clearly hasn't been to one of the nation’s food festivals, which celebrate the best of local produce, meats and street food. To satisfy your taste buds, we've compiled a list of the UK’s best food festivals for 2018 below:

  • The Big Grill, 16-19 August, Herbert Park, Dublin.
One of Ireland's first major food festivals, the biggest BBQ in Dublin includes cooking demonstrations and workshops, a BBQ cook-off and a series of challenges against a background of live music and DJ sets. If you want to attend this food festival, you can purchase your tickets here.
  • Isle of Wight Garlic Festival, 18-19 August 2018, Fighting Cocks Crossroad, Isle of Wight.
This fun-filled food festival with the mantra "eat, drink, stink" takes place on the Isle of Wight. Along with over 300 food trade stands showcasing garlic-themed cookery demonstrations and local Isle of Wight produce, the two-day event also includes live music and children's areas, making it one that all the family can enjoy. Make sure to keep an eye out for the Garlic Princess, who can be seen sporting a crown made out of garlic bulbs! Tickets can be purchased here.
  • Meatopia, 31 August – 2 September, Tobacco Dock, London.
With "eat, sleep, meat, repeat" as its strapline, this three-day festival is a meat-eater’s paradise. Established in New York, Meatopia was imported to the UK by one of the nation’s best butchers and chefs, Richard H. Turner. Taking over London's Tobacco Docks, this carnival for carnivores showcases a range of stalls offering mouthwatering charcoal- and wood-cooked meat. Ticket prices vary depending on which day you wish to attend and can be bought here.

The UK is a hub of culture throughout the year. We've selected three of our favourite 2018 cultural festivals below for your consideration:

  • Notting Hill Carnival, 25-27 August 2018, London.
Europe’s biggest annual street party returns to London this August for carnival season. Notting Hill Carnival kicks off on Saturday evening with a Caribbean-themed street party, before the parade continues through Sunday's J’Ouvert and Children’s Day event, where food stalls and live music entertain crowds in Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park. The Grand Finale kicks off on bank holiday Monday with street performers, dancers, steel bands, street food markets and craft stalls. Free entry; no tickets needed.
  • Robin Hood Festival, 27 August - 2 September 2018, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham.
Returning for its 34th year, the Robin Hood Festival is the ultimate family-friendly day out. There are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, including storytelling, medieval music and performances throughout the day. Be sure to watch the battle of the day between Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham near the Major Oak for an exciting event. Food and drink stalls are scattered all over Sherwood Forest to feed the hungry crowds reliving England’s Medieval past. Free entry; no tickets needed.
  • Hogmanay, 30 December 2018 - 1 January 2019, Edinburgh.
A series of fun-packed events combine to make Hogmanay one of the UK’s most renowned cultural extravaganzas. The highlight of the self-proclaimed "World's Best New Year Street Party" is the Concert in the Gardens on New Year’s Eve, which features food markets, fireworks, street performers, disco divas and DJs against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. The next day, celebrate the start of the New Year at the Loony Dook, which sees revellers in fancy dress take a dip in the chilly waters of Firth of Forth at South Queensferry.
