Welcome to the wilderness

After your private flight into Nairobi, you’ll jump on a short-hop flight to transport you to Nanyuki airstrip in the shadow of Mount Kenya. You’ll be met by your guide here, who’ll drive you to Kicheche Laikipia camp in Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

There’ll be time to settle in and soak up your spectacular surroundings before tucking into afternoon tea. Then it’s off on your first evening game drive, setting off across the plains in search of your first big five spot.

It’s an early start today, but you’ll be woken with piping hot coffee, tea or hot chocolate brought to your tent.

A longer game drive will take you further out into the Conservancy for more wildlife spotting followed by a sumptuous picnic on the plains. Then it’s back to camp for an al fresco lunch and the chance to watch both big game and birds gather around the waterhole.

After dinner, there’s also a chance to take a night drive to track nocturnal species with the help of a filtered spotlight.

Day 3 – Walk, bike, paddle, picnic

Take your pick of activities today, from lion tracking, a walking safari, mountain biking, canoeing or another game drive. Walks with a guide and a ranger usually take two to three hours and can be tailored to your interests. Whichever you choose, there’ll be a picnic breakfast included before you return to camp.

Come afternoon, head off on a game drive, visit the ranching program or head to the wildlife centre to learn more about the area. Then it’s back to the campfire or lounge for a drink before dinner in the dining tent.

Day 4 – Fly south to the Masai Mara

Following a leisurely breakfast at camp, it’s off to Nanyuki airstrip for a flight south to the Masai Mara. You’ll be met at the plane by your guide who’ll take you on a short game drive en route to Kicheche Mara, Bush or Valley camp.

On arrival at the camp, you’ll have time to unwind and enjoy lunch then afternoon tea. Then it’s off on an afternoon game drive with a stop for a sundowner overlooking the plains. When you get back to camp, there’ll be time for a shower, then drinks by the fire before dinner.

Day 5 – A full-day game drive

It’s another early start today, with tea, coffee or hot chocolate served in your tent, followed by a full breakfast at camp. You’ll spend all day out in the reserve or another conservancy, covering different terrain with plenty of animals and birds to spot.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint before continuing your drive until late afternoon. After an exhilarating day in the field, there’ll be time to unwind at camp before a fireside aperitif and dinner with the group.
