There are a total of 62 cities in the mammoth state of New York. Here, we’ve covered New York City, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Yonkers.

New York City

New York City is the largest city in the state of New York, with over 8.5 million permanent residents – around 40% of the state’s total population. The two primary airports serving New York are JFK and LaGuardia Airport, both of which are in its largest borough, Queens, in the east of the city. There is also Newark Liberty International Airport, situated in New Jersey. Teterboro Airport is the most central airport for New York City private jet charters, situated just 12 miles from Manhattan – closer than JFK International Airport. Teterboro is ideal if you’re flying to Pennsylvania for a meeting and leaving straight from the office.

Albany

New York City isn’t actually the capital city of New York state – it’s Albany. As strange as this may seem considering it has a population of just 100,000, Albany has held the title since way back in 1797. Albany International Airport is located seven miles northwest of Albany in Albany County.

Buffalo

Buffalo is the state’s second-most populated city after New York City, with around 257,000 residents. If you’re starting your journey in Buffalo, you can use Buffalo Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga, which sits 11 miles east of downtown Buffalo and also in easy reach of the magnificent Niagara Falls.

Rochester

Just behind Buffalo with a population of just under 210,000 citizens is Rochester. If you’re flying from Rochester, you can use Greater Rochester International Airport, located three miles southwest of downtown in Monroe County.

Yonkers

In 2017, Yonkers had a population of 200,807, making it the fourth most populated city in the state of New York. Westchester County Airport in White Plains is around a half-hour drive from the city center.

Top cities and private jet airports in Pennsylvania

Located in the northeast of the USA, there are 57 cities in the state of Pennsylvania, including the capital, Harrisburg. Philadelphia has the largest population, with over 1.5 million residents, followed by Pittsburgh and Allentown respectively. The majority of Pennsylvania airports – many of them central – can be accessed by private jet.

Philadelphia

Philadelphia is the birthplace of the United States Constitution and it’s in this historically important city that the Declaration of Independence was first read out and the Liberty Bell rung in 1776. On Independence Day 2018, Philadelphia will host the largest free concert in the USA with a spectacular fireworks show. Where better to celebrate July 4th than in the city where America gained independence? From September 4th – 9th, 2018, Philadelphia will host the BMW Championship at the historic Aronimink Golf Club. Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport are the two major airports serving the city.

Pittsburgh

With over 300,000 people, Pittsburgh is the second-most populous city in the state. Located at the meeting point of three rivers, it’s fondly referred to as the ‘City of Bridges’, which makes sense as it has over 445 of them! Pittsburgh is home to three major sports teams – the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League, the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball. Sports stadiums in the city include Mellon Arena (NHL), Heinz Field (NFL), PNC Park and Consol Energy Centre (NHL). The NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals are set to take place in June 2018, and as of August 2017, the odds were on the Pittsburgh Penguins to host. From June to July, the prestigious Three Rivers Regatta will also be held in the city.

Pittsburgh International Airport and the smaller, more relaxed Pittsburgh Monroeville Airport are the two major airports serving the city, both located around a half-hour drive from its central business district. Pittsburgh Northeast Airport is conveniently located 12 miles northeast.

Harrisburg

Harrisburg is the designated capital of Pennsylvania. Whilst it may be small compared to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with a population of only 50,000, it’s here that the state’s government seat, Pennsylvania State Capitol, lies. The current Huston Capitol is the third state capitol building to be constructed in Harrisburg – a grand complex with Renaissance-style architecture. Harrisburg International Airport is located 13 miles from the city centre.

Allentown

Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport, also known as Queen City Airport, is located just three miles from the city center of Allentown.

Erie

Erie International Airport is situated just five miles out of Erie, in Erie County.
