Held at the illustrious All England Club in southwest London, The Championships, Wimbledon is the last major grand slam tennis tournament to be played on outdoor grass courts. Historically, the two-week tournament commenced on the third Monday in June, however in recent years the action has instead kicked off in early July.

This truly classic British sporting extravaganza is famous for its long-held traditions. Spectators traditionally sip Pimm’s and feast on strawberries and cream, with 34,000 kg of English strawberries and 10,000 litres of cream consumed in 2017 alone. Players are strictly required to dress in all-white and Wimbledon is the only grand slam to be attended by a royal family, with Queen Elizabeth and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge regularly popping up in the Royal Box. Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also rumoured to be attending this year.

Wimbledon 2018 takes place from 2-15 July and features the biggest prize money in the tournament’s history – £34 million in total, with singles champions taking home £2.25 million each. This is a big climb from 2017 winners Roger Federer and Garbine Muguruza, who took home £2.2 million each.

The Championships are comprised of five main events – Gentlemen’s Singles, Ladies’ Singles, Gentlemen's Doubles, Ladies' Doubles and Mixed Doubles – plus junior events and invitationals. The biggest clashes take place on the prestigious Centre Court and No.1 Court, where the world’s most celebrated players battle it out for glory. Former victors include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena and Venus Williams.

This year’s tournament sees the return of two-time British men's champion Andy Murray, who hasn’t played competitively since suffering a hip injury at Wimbledon 2017. Seven-time women’s champion Serena Williams also makes her return to Centre Court after giving birth last year. To see these world-class tennis stars in action, charter a private jet to London Gatwick Airport, London City Airport or Farnborough Airport.

There are several ways to get your hands on Wimbledon tickets. The ballot draw system, introduced in 1924, uses a computer-generated ticket distributor meaning fans can’t request tickets for specific days or courts. The winners of this year’s ballot have already been selected and notified, however Wimbledon remains one of the few major UK sporting events at which premium tickets can be purchased on the day (except for the final four days of Centre Court action, which are only available in advance). Simply head to your chosen court to buy tickets on the spot, which are limited to one per person and can only be paid for in cash. Rules and further information can be found here.

If you’re looking for a VIP Wimbledon experience, there are a range of luxury packages on offer. Two popular options are listed below:

  • The Wimbledon Experience – Championship Programme 10 2018 includes a one-day ticket to No. 1 Court and a one-day ticket to Centre Court, daily buffet lunch, car park pass packages, £25 gift voucher, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum voucher, one-day travelcard for zones 1-6 and three nights’ accommodation. Package costs £2,730 per person and can be purchased here.
  • The Gatsby Club – Finals Programme includes Centre Court tickets for both the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s finals, afternoon tea, a three-course fine dining experience, £25 gift voucher, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum voucher, exclusive membership to the award-winning Gatsby Club for the duration of the tour and three nights’ accommodation.
